Our Personal Support Worker certificate program provides the skills and hands-on training to pursue a in-demand career in healthcare. You will provide physical and emotional support to clients who require assistance in their day-to-day life, due to age, illness, injury or disability. Program duration: 8 months
Throughout our 8-month certificate program, you will learn to assist clients with grooming, personal hygiene, feeding, lifting and transferring, bathing, oral hygiene and toileting as well as preparing meals and performing light housekeeping duties. You will also learn to administer prescribed medications, document on your client’s condition, recognize and report changes in your client’s physical and mental health and much more. You will also participate in two field-related practicums for a total of 11 weeks of hands-on, real-world training and experience.
Upon graduation, you will be ready to explore career opportunities in long-term care facilities, retirement homes, hospitals, group homes and hospices or provide care to clients in their own homes. Career options include personal support worker, home support worker, personal aide, long-term care aide, resident care aide and more.
